I love stories — reading them, writing them, watching them on screen, and hearing them unfold in an audiobook. I also love teaching literature. Beyond form and genre, I am drawn to narratives of identity, belonging and inner lives.

WRITING PRACTICE

For me, writing always begins with a feeling.

For me, writing always begins with a feeling.

As a writer, I stay close to my characters. I take them seriously and write from within their worlds. They are often at odds with themselves, facing situations that set something in motion. To experience emancipation alongside them is one of the great pleasures of writing.
